Reading

I really love this painting by James Christensen. This similar to how I am at home: I wear something comfortable (usually sweat pants or my PJs) and everything I need is spread around me: my PC, my camera, whatever I'm reading, my knitting project. My husband refers to it as my "docking station".

Denim Coat

Because I was wearing an ice-cream coloured sweater, I had to get some ice-cream. Here I'm also wearing my denim coat: I absolutely adore it.

My Mom had bought this sweater for herself, but ended up giving it to me. I love the colour: it always reminds me of my fave flavour of ice-cream: mint chocolate chip.

Hearty

IMG_8296, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.

I knitted this yesterday (during one evening), just to practice creating pictures with textures in knitting. The pattern is from the book Stich 'n Bitch by Debbie Stoller. I learned to knit from that book and in my opinion it's the best book for complete beginners - it really shows you what to do step by step.

I thought I might use this heart as a decorative element in some project, such as a handbag, a pillow or the back of a denim jacket. Let's see where it eventually ends up.

Another cute photo of Kenzo, our big boy of one year.

Kenzo the Cat

Kenzo was posing for the camera today; so cute. He is now pretty much fully grown. Our twins, Kenzo and Chanel are now a year old, so not kittens anymore.

Oatmeal Cookies

IMG_8227, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.
I've been baking a lot lately: pizza, flatbread and oatmeal cookies: really easy, fast and yummy. And nothing beats the smell of baking. Funnily enough, I've still lost weight (about 3 kgs) in spite of eating all these baked goodies.

Pink Tunic

IMG_8239, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.
The last time I wore this outfit, I was in Agra, India. There are photos of me in front of the Taj Mahal wearing this. Both the Indian style leggings and the tunic are from India, probably from Pantaloon (if I remember correctly).

My husband found the sunglasses in the street! All of my jewelry is from India. The purse is a recent purchase on a trip to Prague. It's Italian design and leather, but cost next to nothing. The shoes are also from Italy.

I wore this today to go grocery shopping.

I really love outdoor living. I wish we had this kind of deck or big balcony. Lovely colours.

I used to follow dozens of fashion blogs, but I get bored with most of them. The one I keep going back to is Fashion Toast - I really love it. This photo is from there.

Namibia

This is my idea of perfection - very "Out of Africa". I absolutely love this and want to go on safari immediately. I don't know why I'm obsessed with Africa lately.

At the Airport

IMG_3459, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.
This photo was taken at Helsinki airport in 2011. This is the outfit I travelled in on my way to the African continent for the first time ever. We went to Hurghada, Egypt on holidays.

The pants and sandals are from India, the jacket is Japanese, but I bought it in Helsinki. Unfortunately, I machine washed the jacket after this trip and it shrunk beyond recognition, so this was the first and only time I wore it.

The small backpack is from Samsonite and I have to say that it's been the most durable bag I've ever owned. My husband now uses it when he goes to the store and he carries 3 bottles (of 1,5 Litres each) of Coke Zero in it at once, but it's still going strong. I bought it so long ago that I don't even remember where and when, but it must be at least 20 years old.

Saturday in the Park

IMG_8214, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.
It was a warm day finally, after about a month of cooler weather, which is very unusual for this time of year in the Czech Republic. We've been having temperatures as cold as +10 and it's been very rainy - it has felt more like October than June. But today it was a beautiful +25 C and we even saw some sunshine off and on. So we went to the park to just relax and read.

My blue suede bag is new. It's F&F, i.e. Tesco's own brand and it was on sale. I paid something like 15 euros for it and it's leather and suede. In Finland, the only place where you could get a leather bag for that kind of price is from a thrift shop.

My sunglasses are Alain Mikli. I bought them in Paris more than 6 years ago and I had them converted into reading glasses in India. So they're now my "reading in the sun" glasses.

The rest of my outfit is the same as in a previous post.

Pizza made by hand

IMG_8172, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.
I made pizza from scratch yesterday (Monday, but I had taken the day off). I used to make pizza dough with the bread machine all the time back when I had one, but this is the first time I've made pizza dough by hand. The pizza was really delicious and now I want to make it again soon - maybe next weekend. The topping was three different kinds of cheese (Edam, Gran Moravia and Feta) and olives. I also made the tomato sauce from scratch (albeit from puree and not from fresh or canned tomatoes). But I let it simmer for nearly two hours, which makes a big difference.

My first ever job title was actually "Pizza Maker" at Canada's Wonderland (an amusement park) near Toronto, Canada. But there, the pizza dough and the tomato sauce were ready-made, so I only prepped other ingredients (grated cheese, tomatoes, lettuce), made caesar salad and - mostly - put together the pizzas, which was done at lightning speed. And then of course I baked them as well. The funny thing is that I didn't even like pizza at that time. Now of course it's one of my favourite things to eat. I only wish that in my job as Pizza Maker I would've also learnt to make the dough the Italian way, i.e. to twirl it in the air, etc. Oh well, maybe I'll need to work in a pizzeria in Italy some day. Then again, maybe you need a degree in pizza making to work at an Italian pizzeria - it's an art form there.

Bali

Bali has for several years been one of my dream destinations. I don't know how many years it will be until I finally get there.

Pink Building

IMG_8108, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.
We took a long walk around our neighbourhood (Poruba) today and I took photos as usual. That a lovely paint job on this otherwise ordinary apartment building.

Ostrava, Czech Republic.

Home-made Bread

IMG_8088, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.

Our breakfast this morning was home-made bread and coffee. My Mom used to make this kind of simple bread (we call it "tea bread" in Finland) quite often when we were kids, but I don't think I've had it for a few decades. The smell of it baking instantly brought me back to my childhood - like Proust's madelaines.

Dandelion

IMG_8151, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.

Today I tried something I've never done before: I picked dandelion leaves from our backyard and used them in my salad. This salad was the most delicious salad I've eaten in a long time - eventhough I eat salad nearly every day. I baked the bread today as well. I dipped pieces of the bread in the same salad dressing I used for the salad.

A tourist enjoying the early morning on the beach. The heat starts to rise very quickly, so the early morning and late afteroon are the best times to be on the beach.

This was Christmas Eve, 2011. This is exactly how I like to spend Christmas: on the beach in my bare feet. We had amazing fresh fish and Sula Brut sparking wine (India's finest).

Another photo from December, 2011, this one is taken on Christmas Eve. I'm on the phone with my Mom, who's in Finland, where the weather is quite different from the absolutely perfect Goan weather.

Dress, sunglasses and ring all from India. The phone is by Nokia.

Bandana

This green silk tunic is from India, and I love that it looks like it's made out of a giant bandana. Most of the jewelry that I'm wearing is from India, too, with some exceptions. The bag is made out of recycled plastic bags and it was a gift from Canada. The photo was taken in 2011 and I'm sitting in the commuter train between Espoo and Helsinki in Finland.

The green bracelet is from Leena Collection.

Walking

IMG_3259, originally uploaded by Pink Lady on the Loose!.
Especially when the weather is warm, my husband and I love to walk for hours on end. This photo was taken in August, 2011, when we were living in Kauklahti, Espoo, Finland. We lived quite near the sea, and that's something I'm really missing now. There's no ocean in the Czech Republic. You don't know how much something means to you until it's not there anymore.

My pants, sandals, bag and sunglasses are all from India. The cardigan is from a thrift store and it's actually a men's cardigan.

Horseback

I love this photo, which is scanned a long time ago from a catalogue, probably H&M. I used to ride horses as a child and I've always loved them. The sweater also looks cool and I'd like to knit something similar to this one day.
